Bridal Skin Care Tips

Most great makeup artists will tell you that makeup works better on a good canvas. The smooth, even and hydrated your skin, the better the makeup will look. In the months leading up to your ‘big day’, it is very important that your skin care routine be as important as choosing the right venue, dress, menu, decor, etc. As I always tell my brides, your pictures are what you will after the wedding. And when the bills start rolling in, looking back on your pictures and videos is the confirmation that you will need that it was all worth it. With this in mind, I am going to give all brides-to-be a complete guide to their skin care routine on the days or months leading up to their special day.

Time Guidelines

If you have problem skin ( acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis), I would recommend you see a dermatologist before beginning any skin care plan prescribed by your Aesthetician. For those who have relatively ‘normal’ skin, a trip to your favorite Aesthetician is enough to remedy any occasional breakouts, dehydration, dryness, or even blemishes that you may have leading up to the big day. That being said, the first step in beginning your routine is visiting your local spa and have a professional look at your skin under a magnifying lamp or skin diagnostic machine to diagnose any problems that would make your skin look less than perfect on your big day. If you suffer with post breakout blemishes, go up to 6 months in advance to get the right treatments and products to use at home to reduce the appearance of blemishes. She may even prescribe multiple treatments done in one, two, three or even four week succession in order to remedy the problem leading up to the wedding.

Invasive Treatments

Another important tip to remember is that all invasive treatments such as microdermabrasion or intense peels should be done no less than one month leading up to the wedding. A maintenance facial can be done about three days before the wedding which should include exfoliation, mask, and a deep penetrating serum (with the use of a machine to penetrate serum deeper) to plump and rejuvenate the skin.

The Right Products

Another important factor in achieving beautiful, radiant skin on your big day is to use professional products that are proven to have a higher absorption rate into the deeper layers of the skin. Your Aesthetician can give you products that has higher concentrations of key ingredients to give you results for your skin than what you can purchase at a drug store or department store, within the same price range.

Most Important Tips

The number one tip to getting beautiful skin is having a good diet that includes lots of fruits and vegetables and plenty (plenty) of water. Your skin is a mirror for what is going on on the inside so first take care of the inside and you’re halfway to radiant skin. Another very important tip is a good sunscreen lotion that contains at least 30 SPF. This prevents skin sun damage and age spots from occurring and blemishes from getting darker.

The Day Of

On the morning of the wedding, an at home treatment consisting of a cleanse, exfoliation, toning, serum and a moisturizer can be done to refreshen the skin. You will notice that your skin will radiate through your makeup, giving you that picture perfect glow.
